Rules of Perceptual Organization: Part 1-- Closure

The Rules of Perceptual Organization, or the Gestalt Rules (so named for the Gestalt psychologists who discovered them), describe how we perceive groups of objects.  Part 1 of the Rules of Perceptual Organization is Closure.  Closure is the idea that despite the individual parts of an image, we will still perceive the recognizable shape in its entirety.  In the above image, although we see that there are many small circles of light, we perceive it to be in the shape of circle.
